Someone said to me the other day that "People seem to take for granted that we are 'living the blessing'!" And I thought, "Wow! How true!"
So, the challenge to myself, then, was to come up with some things I think are good things and continue, each day, to make a conscious effort to recognize at least one or two of these blessings. So, here's my list so far:
1) Invisible Deodorant! Invisible, meaning, It won't show up on my shirt after I pull it over my head! Wow! I love that!
2) Coffee. Oh, no morning is quite as good without a nice cup of joe!
3) Clothing. Because without it, we'd all be walking around naked, and I can't tell you how uncomfortable that would make me!!
4) Email. It's such a cool way to stay connected with people! In this world, where a lot of us seem to end up miles away from home, email is such an awesome way to keep in touch!
5) Disposable Diapers! Hate that they're not environmentally friendly, but love that I do not have to rubber-pant my kid and wash poopy diapers out in the toilet! Man, you women who have walked down the cloth diaper road, high-five! Seriously! That's some awesome turn-off of the gag-reflex that you must have!!!
6) The Jumperoo and ExerSaucer. Monumental achievement here Fisher-Price and Evenflo! Entertainment for the wee ones! YAY! Mommy's arms finally got a rest!
7) Grilled Hamburgers, or if you prefer, Cheeseburgers, or if you prefer Veggie-Burgers. Something about a bun, a piece of protein, lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc, etc. Just nothing like it on the planet! That's good eatin'!
8) Cheese Curds. Oh Daddy, I know you're with me on this one!?! So fresh they "squeak" when you bite in, nothing better ('cept, maybe FRIED CHEESE CURDS, oh, yeah, yum, yum, yum!!)
9) Pictures. They make you laugh, they make you cry, they remind you of a place and time, and without them, we'd never have seen Britney Spears' bits. And we all know how important that was!!!
10) Lip Balm. Oh, lips are dry, cracking, hurting like the dickens, what do you search through your purse for? Lip-Balm. Whether it be Chap-Stick, Blistex, Lip Smackers, or Burt's Bees, nothing else will do. Lip-Balm is miraculous! And tasty, too! (ha that rhymed!)
Take a minute, here folks, to think of all of the Good Things in your life, and tell me about them! I could have gotten sappy with this because for sure, my husband, and kids, and friends are good things. But, I felt like this was a fun way of paying homage to the things that make life simpler and more enjoyable. It's a wonderful world we live in, chock-full of amenities some people would kill to have at their fingertips! So tell me about Your favorites!!!

1. GPS - greatest invention whether for the car or the golf course.
2. Cell phones - didn't think we needed one until we got one. now don't know how we lived without it.
3. DVR - another can't do without.
Great to skip through all those commercials. Watch my shows when I want to.
4. NetFlix movies - never get to the theater, so it is great to watch any movie we want in the ocmfort of our home. Plus, no postage to pay.
5. Pre-cooked bacon from Sams. comes in a big bag 72 slices...just pop in microwave 20 seconds and there ya go. Instant BLTs.
Proof that we're related--I love deep fried cheese curds too! When the kids were little and we would go on vacation to Wisconsin, it was mandatory that we pull the car over at a roadside cheese stand so I could get the squeeky orange goodies for our drive. Needless to say, we were pretty bound up when we reached our destination! Some of my favorite other things are: Technology, dogs, sunshine, water, margaritas, Mexican food, Uno's wheat-crust pizza.

Good water pressure in the shower. Mmmmm. My fav.
1. AIR CONDITIONING- Considering it is 74 degrees out, 94% humidity and only 4:17 am. My office seems to mysteriously be without it (for the 2nd day in a row, I will count it as another one of my blessings if one of my hard working skilled trades people would fix it quickly). It has got to be one of mankinds greatest gifts to those of us who are pregnant in Iowa during the summer. - Tiffany
Well, I gotta agree with Mom on the Netflix! Love that service!
And, I have to say the pre-cooked bacon thing is a great quickie. I am not a big bacon person, but I do like to get it for when we have company. Quick and easy!
Of course, Stacy is right on with sunshine, too! Man, nothing like sitting outside with the boys, watching them play around, and enjoying the sun! (Only time it sucks is right now when our humidity is ridiculously high and there is no breeze in sight! This, is a miserable time of year!)
And good water pressure is such a luxury! I can't imagine living in a country where a nice hot, full-water pressure shower was never something you could experience. We take so much for granted!
Amen, Tiffany! Nothing like A/C!! And, if I were you, being pregnant and all, I'd be calling up my Mgr and asking when he wanted me to start working from home! No way I could've gone without A/C while prego! I could barely breathe in the cooled air! "Medic, stand fast, I could pass out at any moment!!!"
So glad to hear everyone's Good Things! Keep 'em coming!
I'm gonna go with:
a working toilet
a cool breeze on a hot day
a child falling asleep on your shoulder
a ladybug landing on your hand
a cold drink when you are really thirsty
holding a child's hand
tomato soup with cheez-its
rainy days with no chores and good tear-jerker
puppy kisses
autumn leaves
.........I'm a bit weird- but those are good things to me.

Oh! And I forgot.... G Diapers!!
Save the planet for your children!!

A rainy day with no chores and autumn leaves for sure! These are good ones folks!
I must agree to all of the above, therefore the biggest blessing of all is the simple fact that God has allowed us to experience these good things and enjoy them as much as we can. He does this knowing that we will faulter and break his heart, so he sent his son to say, "I forgive you, just keep trying." We are given all these luxuries to enjoy, yet we have so much more in store! God, thank you for the blessings you have already given me and for the promise of things to come!!
Amen, Lynn! I love your wise voice. It sings so loud in my ears. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me!
I thought of another couple: Q-Tips, and a clean face!
Ahhh, nothing quite like cleaning your ears out in the morning! And, a good, freshly scrubbed face is just soooo refreshing!
Of all you women who commented, I can't believe no one mentioned TP or tampons. OMG, can you imagine a world without TP! From a man's point of view, I am thankful for anything with an internal combustion engine or electric motor.
